Pictured is a series of reconstructed buildings of Fort Osage, built at the direction of William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition on a strategic bend and Bluff of the Missouri River. Dating to 1808, the fort existed as an outpost deep in the Missouri Frontier, signaling the Strength of a young nation to neighboring European Empires. The post was a haven for travelers venturing West into the Unknown, and as a hub for trade with the local Osage Native American population. Captured from the Missouri River, the photograph offers a unique perspective from the perspective of those locals, potential adversaries or weary travelers getting their first glimpse of civilization in days. The monochromatic palette evokes a sense of Time past, inviting the viewer to imagine Life in these formative years.

The architecture collection acknowledges the soul and character of locations displayed through the work of the people that live there, namely through their architectural creations. Architecture tells stories of utility and necessity, as well as frivolity, excess, spoils, and ultimately success, leading to the creation of the gorgeous, weird, intricate, unnecessary, essential or ornate.
